Experience points

First what you can do with Experience Points.
If you have enough Experience you can increase Abilities and/or skills.
Increasing a skill costs the value the skill should get squared
For an ability it would be half the new value squared.
you can't pay partial XP so all results get rounded up.
You can reduce the cost to increase a skill with a trainer. The trainer can save you the difference between his skill and your new skillvalue in XP, but never below a cost of 1 Xp per new skillrank. For example: If you want to increase your fighting skill from 4 to 5 you would pay 25 XP(the new value squared).
Now If you would do the same while having a trainer of skill 7 you would only pay 23 XP (7(his skill)-5(your new skillvalue)=2 XP saved) .
But if you want to increase your strength from 4 to 5 you would only pay 7XP(half the new value squared and rounded up).

Any single ability or skill can only be increased by one point after each adventure.

Next let's discuss for what you get experience points. You get one experience point for following actions:

  • Participated in the adventure
  • Played until the end of the adventure
  • Heroic action
  • Succesful teamwork
  • Creative thinking
  • Moving the story forward
  • Solving of puzzles
  • One year passed in game time.
    And one additional point for the differnce between your highest skill and the highest skill in the group

    For games that need faster advancement those points can be multiplied with a factor between 1 (normal adventure in a somewhat realistic setting) and 5 (for those that should really help increasing things or are ste in a four color universe).
